Responsibilities

Publishers are responsible for maintaining the website, transcribing quick and extended guides, and updating pages as needed.

Wangsheng Publishers are currently responsible for:

  • Transcribing quick and extended guides from Google Docs to the website.
  • Updating guides based on requests in #tc-publishers, #tcl-multiverse, and #website-feedback.
  • Uploading completed and updated infographics to the website.
  • Maintaining guides when there are bugs, issues, or general updates to guide formatting on the website.

Extended Guide and Quick Guide Changelogs in the TCT Queue need to be updated every time you change something on the website.

You are free to contribute as much as you like. While we do expect some consistency in regards to project contribution, we respect your life outside of KQM. However, if you take on a time-sensitive project, please make sure you allot enough time to finish it by the goal date. If you need help, please ask. Active communication helps everything go smoothly.

Publishers are not responsible for moderation, updating the TCL, writing guides, or editing (beyond formatting and minor typos).

Initial Trial Period for Assistant Publishers

All Publishers undergo a trial period of at least 3 weeks where their contributions and team participation are assessed. At the end of the trial period, successful Assistant Publishers are promoted to the Wangsheng Publisher role.

We expect that as long as you're willing to be a team player and pitch in, you will complete the trial period successfully! If you have any questions or concerns about the process, please contact @irokei or @chasing_haze.

Website Drafts and Publishing

The KQM Genshin Impact website does not live update. It automatically caches and updates on a 24-hour cycle. Please follow these publishing guidelines to avoid half-finished projects being uploaded to the website:

  1. For new guides, make a copy of the guide template and publish that copy as Private so it does not upload to the live website while you are working on it.
  2. For updates to content, there are two options:
    1. Work on the existing WordPress editor page if you can meet the cache deadline.
    2. Make a copy of the existing WordPress editor page that is saved as Private and work on that if you cannot meet the cache deadline.
    3. Make a copy if you are unsure if you can finish in time in either case.
  3. When a page is published and made Public, it gets added to the live site update cache.
    1. If you started from scratch, make sure you've gotten your transcription QC before changing the Visibility to Public and pressing Update a final time.
    2. If you updated an existing page, make sure you've gotten a transcription QC prior to the cache deadline.
    3. If you made a copy of an existing page, ask @irokei or @chasing_haze to deal with the existing page and the updated copy.
  4. Then the cache pushes to the live site.
danger
  • The update cache deadline is 4:00AM UTC+0.
  • The live site push finishes 8 hours later by 12:00PM UTC+0.
  • Any changes made in the 8 hour span between the cache and site push will be added to the following site push the next day.

The front page does not automatically update based on published content. It needs to be manually updated by certain Publishers with front page access.

If you need to push the site in pressing or emergency situations, please ping @reens and @bubbleteas.moe.
